Agathe EN

La gang d’Henriette
After studying art history and cultural management in Spain, where she lived and worked for more than ten years, she left everything behind to devote herself fully to the activities of being a grandmother. Trained in fine crafts – textile construction at the Centre des textiles contemporains de Montréal, she weaves, crochets, embroiders, knits, and mends in order to carry forward a matriarchal tradition and help restore textiles to the value they deserve, as their devaluation has paralleled that of people identifying as women.
Agathe is also, and above all, Henriette’s granddaughter , the one who knitted her a sweater each season. Somewhere between art object and militant gesture, between jewelry and everyday garment, she felt unique. Today, with la gang d’Henriette, she seeks to preserve this tradition and this emotion for those who no longer recognize themselves in this world.

Introductory Needlework Workshop with Agathe Dessaux, Between Heritage and Emancipation
Come explore the gestures inherited from the generations of women who came before us. Embroidering, beading, mending, crocheting, knitting… Techniques often considered “minor,” yet carrying a quiet strength at the intersection of care, creation, and resistance.
Here, thread becomes language a line stretched between matriarchal tradition and contemporary creation. Participants learn to adorn, repair, and tell stories – not to erase, but to elevate the marks, the wear, and the memories. Rooted in both craft and feminist approaches, each stitch becomes an act of reclamation, slowness, and transmission.
Open to everyone, feel free to contact Agathe to develop together a workshop proposal tailored to your vision.
